Quilt borders provide us an additional opportunity to increase the dimensions of our pieced quilt tops while at the same time, framing it.

It can also add another dimension of depth and a bit more of you to the completed quilt top.

Doing straight quilt borders require a little more planning. The planning starts with selecting a border fabric and then decide what impression we want it to make.

Do we want the borders to enhance our quilt top, blend with it, or do we want the borders to be the prominent visual impact.

Not matter what fabric we choose to make our borders from, we’ll need to add it to our quilts.
