Refresher: How To Use A Walking Foot

This video demonstrates the walking foot in action on a sewing machine.

This explains the effectiveness of a walking foot, how to install it on our sewing machines and different types of materials that work on it.

A sewing machine walking foot works in concert with the feed dogs to pull the material being stitched through the sewing machine.

From the base of the sewing machine where the needle is there are feed dogs that come up from the bottom and grip the material between the foot and feed dogs to pull it through the and make a stitch.

A few helpful tips:

If the feed dogs don’t move/pull the material the needle would just stitch the material in the same place. The walking foot does the same thing except from the top. The walking foot pulls the material from the top and feed dogs pull it from the bottom.

Thank you. I have one and yet I’ve struggled with my machine using regular foot. Thanks for turning the light bulb on in my sewing.
