Fabric and a sewing machine aren’t compatible partners.
Fabric moves and shifts as it’s moves by the feed dogs under your presser foot.
This action of only pulling the bottom fabric with the feed dogs causes the top piece to be dragged under the presser foot using bottom piece to pull it under the presser foot.
This dragging creates friction so the top piece doesn’t move at the same speed as the bottom fabric piece.
This small shift between the top fabric and bottom fabric can cause your pieces to not line up as they are being sewn together.
Being aware of this helps you make adjustments to take this into account when sewing.
With an emphasis on sewing straight seams this video covers, a 4 Patch, Half Square, and Quarter Square Triangles.
