Suggest you use a triangle shaped ruler to make the cuts for this Hollow Cube.

To fool our Brain into seeing a 3 dimensional shape. The shape has to be symmetrical and in quilt piecing that takes accuracy.

 Cutting and trimming the triangles in perfect unison is what makes this work.

Color Value or Color shading selection is also of primary concern. Light, Medium, & Dark Fabrics from the same color is critical. The Medium shade should lean toward the darker side.

This Looks like it would make a great Placemat.
