How To Use Crayons With Quilting


Did you know we can us crayons on quilts? Do you save the drawings that your kids created when they were young? You could make a quilt using a drawing from kids too.

This would make a great keepsake. So how do we color on our quilts? Watch the tutorial on the next page and find out how.

This is a great method for personalizing a memory quilt with names or a favorite saying. Also, it’s a great way to add shading to create depth to a motif or applique. The possibilities are endless with this technique. You can just let your imagination run wild with ideas for coloring on quilts.

One of my favorite things to do is enhance borders by coloring shapes in bright colors. Or make a complete quilt using a whole cloth and create a fabric masterpiece.

Using crayons while quilting will allow you to get colorful shapes, followed by quilting to outline your artistry is a great way enhance and personalize your quilt.

And what a fantastic reason to learn more about the finer techniques of quilting.

    I used a different technique, however, crayons helped create the quilt I made for my granddaughter’s birthday several years ago. Happy to say, it still looks like this after NUMEROUS washings over the years.

    My grandchildren did one, but then their mother washed it. The crayons were the ones recommended; however, the quilt really faded. Be careful.
